Perched on balcony above the Romanche, opposite Alpe d'Huez, the resort of’Auris-en-Oisans (~1,600 m) offers a superb and varied climb. Since Bourg-d'Oisans, we go back up the valley and then head over onto the Auris road: 14.9 km and 916 m elevation gain an average of 6 %. The famous Auris’s balconies reveal sweeping views over the whole Oisans valley.
Difficulty
The slope is irregular : a few fast sections alternate with steeper slopes, right up to 11,7 %. The balcony section, carved into the mountainside, is as beautiful as it is demanding. An ideal climb for escaping the crowds of Alpe d'Huez while keeping an eye on its 21 hairpins, right opposite.

Authentic village resort of’Oisans, Auris forms part of the vast Alpe d’Huez ski area. As for cycling, it features on the programme of the’Oisans Col Series and goes perfectly with the Col de Sarenne nearby for a spectacular loop over the Romanche.
