Col du Glandon by bicycle from La Chambre

Right next to the Croix de Fer (the two summits are only 2.5 km apart), the Col du Glandon is climbed from its north face since The Room, in the Maurienne valley: 22.1 km and 1,482 m of elevation gain at an average gradient of 6.6 %, up to the summit at 1,924 m. The climb, which starts off at a steady gradient, is interrupted by a short flat section in the middle before steepening again in the final kilometres.

Difficulty

Classified Unclassified, the Glandon combines length and sections of up to 12 %, particularly in the final section. The consistency of the average gradient hides these steeper climbs. Best period: from June to October.

Glandon and Croix de Fer, the La Marmotte duo

The Glandon and the Croix de Fer share the same road in their upper section and form a classic climb combination of the Tour de France and the sportive The Marmotte. From the summit, you drop down in a few minutes towards the Croix de Fer.
