Cycling the Col d’Ornon from Bourg-d’Oisans
In the south of Oisans, the Col d’Ornon (1,371 m) is a climb lush and green, away from the major mountain passes. Since Bourg-d'Oisans, you go back up the peaceful valley of the Lignarre and its gorges: 13.6 km and 668 m of elevation gain with an average gradient of 4.7 %. A climb suitable for everyone, ideal for a leisurely ride or for reaching the Valbonnais and the Écrins massif.
Difficulty
This is one of the passes affordable of Oisans: the gradient remains moderate (rarely more than 8,6 %) and regular, only the last few kilometres before the col get a bit steeper. The road is in good condition and quiet: perfect for starting out in the mountains or recovering between two major stages.
