Villard-Reymond by bike from Bourg-d’Oisans

Clinging to the mountain at 1,640 m, Villard-Reymond is one of the highest inhabited villages in Isère — and one of the most peaceful. Since Bourg-d'Oisans, we are joining the valley of Lignarre then the small winding road climbing towards the hamlet: 15.3 km and 960 m of elevation gain at an average of 6.1 %. A leisurely climb, far from the hustle and bustle, amidst unspoilt alpine scenery.

Difficulty

The slope is regular and moderate (around 6–7 %, with sections of up to 10 %), on a narrow and very quiet road. Nothing too extreme: it’s the tranquillity and the setting that give the climb its charm, with a magnificent view on the Écrins massif and the Romanche valley at the top.

A secret balcony of the Oisans

Not to be confused with Villard-Notre-Dame and its nearby tunnel road: Villard-Reymond is reached via a peaceful road on the Lignarre side. For the more adventurous, you can continue towards the Col de Solude just above. A little slice of paradise, just a few kilometres from Bourg-d’Oisans.
